Experiments Of Doom

Over the 10 years that Doomcore Records existed so far, there were many tracks released on the label that were not strictly "Doomcore", or "Industrial Hardcore", or even "Techno".
This is a collection of such tracks from the ever-so-extensive Doomcore Records archives.
Electro, Acid, Breaks, Industrial (Not Hardcore!), Minimalism, Dark Ambient, Spoken Weird (sic), Noize, and, most of all, strange and bizarre Experiments of Electronic sounds beyond categorizations.
And, of course, always doomed, dark, bleak, and twisted.
15 artists, 19 tracks, and a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Enjoy - if you can!

Info by Nethercords about this release:

Low Entropy Is Back, with a remix project for the hardcore masses.
Originally released on 'Praxis Records' Sönke gave his extended circle of producers a chance and challenge to remix and master his selected works on this release.

This Remix compilation is an all round hardcore assualt on the senses.
The themes on this remix release are quite dark and universally cosmic.

Due to technical constraints i was given the opportunity to take on Mastering duties for the "Dark Matter Project" Remix and the results were quite optimistic.

Low Entropy Presents: Malfunction EP: The Remixes.
This Remix EP is a well awarded companion to the original release hinting at ulterior dimensions in sound.

Stand Up And Fight - Now!

The state of the world is getting worse and worse, and I know for a lot of you, problems have been piling up in your own life, too.
Maybe money problems, problems related to work, family, relationships, physical health issues, or mental health problems, and much more.
Now this has been going on for some time, and for most people, the solution to this was: to try to cope with it as best as one can, to go to the maximum of one's strength to, for example, keep that job, to keep the family intact, to deal with one's mental health issues, to find some way to still gain enough money to get by, and so on.
In other words: to comply, to adapt, to conform, to deny oneself and one's wishes and desires and one's nature, to obey.
And these people decided not to rebel, not to break away from society, not to start a revolution.

Now, what is becoming more and more obvious, essentially on a weekly basis, is that this path of conformism is a path to certain doom and ruin.

For example, money is getting more and more tight, things get more and more expensive, there are more and more shortages of goods and so on... maybe, until now, by getting a 2nd or 3rd job, and selling a lot of your stuff, or other ways, you managed to still have enough money to buy food and pay rent and maybe some luxuries... but if that trend continues, will you still be able to do so in 1 year, or maybe even 1 month?
As I said, most people are already at maximum strain trying to cope with their multitude of problems, and if the state of the world keeps getting worse and worse, and these people still do not rebel - they will simply perish.
Society and everything is obviously breaking down. So the idea you could just live life "like you used to", with your job, and your comfortable home, your shopping, parties and luxuries and so on, is nonsense, because all this will go away shortly.
Your old life is an illusion of the past and will soon cease to exist.

So what is the solution? What is the other way? What can you do, instead of trying to be obedient?
Well, you need to get up and fight now, because very soon, it might be too late.
We need to overthrow society and fix the things that are wrong, before these very problems will destroy all of us.

Now, there might be two objections:

1. Some people might say: "There is a risk in rebellion, especially in societal rebellion. It might be safer for me in the end if I continue to adapt and conform, because maybe the current crises in the world are just short term things, maybe in 2-3 months everything will be fixed, and then everything will be fine, and I can finally return to my 'old life'"
Well, do you really believe that? That things will not get worse, but instead, by some big blue miracle coming from the sky, everything gets fixed and solved suddenly?
No, we must fix the situation by our own actions, not by hoping for some miraculous deliverance from "above".

2. "Things are going to go to shit anyway, we can neither stop or change it, thus it would be useless to resist and fight".
Well, if you believe that, that our "fate" is already written, and everything is pointless, then why do you even keep going to work or do other things to maintain a normal life? If you believe that "doom is near, and certain", why don't you, for example, withdraw all money from your account and spent your final days with partying or on booze?

Now there might be more objections, but all these are fake in one way or the other, because the real reason people talk and think this way is that they are trained to be obedient, to the point of thinking that obedience must be maintained at any cost, even in the face of disaster, and is always the best mode of action.
This trained behavior can be found in many areas and aspects of life and society. I will give one example from school:
some kids in your class did some shit and were caught, maybe you were involved in it, too, now all hell's breaking loose, and you think, to escape the wrath of the teacher and adults, it is best to stay put, to play being complacent, and maybe they will give you another chance then, and you might just get through this situation - while if you'd act defiant, your problems would multiply.
There are more examples of behavior and thoughts like this from other sectors of society.

But, in the current world situation, being complacent, and just trying to keep on living your own little life and staying away from acts of defiance, will get you nowhere, and lead to your certain death - or a worse fate.

So - what is to be done?
Start to rebel! Stop being an obedient slave to society, to authorities, to norms... resist, get active, stand up. Change your life, change society, change the world!
How is this to be done?
Well, there are probably many problems in your life, and the world, that you are clearly aware of, that you could try to change.
You gotta start somewhere. You don't have to succeed at the first try. You don't have to have the perfect plan everything. Just resist.
"Stray from the course". Do something. The first step leads to other, bigger steps. And things gain momentum, and get more clear, as you go on. It's not as hard as you think. It's not as confusing as you think. Just resist. Start to fight!
Before it is too late.
You have the right to resist. You have the right to demand things, to follow your own self and to stand up for what you believe in.
Because you, me, everyone else - we can win!

Emerald Planet Story

I recently posted the music video to my track "Emerald Planet". The video is partly inspired by a dream a fan told me about 15 years ago, a dream that he had after listening to Emerald Planet. As the video is mostly made up of a sort of confusing onslaught of images, I thought I should write its story down.
The story of the video is as follows:

First we see the night sky, space, a field of stars. Then a rocket on a launch pad. The rocket lifts off, leaves Earth's atmosphere. It flies through space, passes by other planets.
Then the Emerald Planet comes in sight.
The rocket approaches the Emerald Planet, lands on it. An astronaut exits the rocket and begins to explore the planet.
Suddenly he encounters an alien life form!
He is shocked and frightened at first, but also curious.
The alien woman telepathically communicates that there is no danger on the Emerald Planet.
They get along fine, understand each other well, and realize they like each other. They dance, and, ahem, smooch a bit.
The astronaut returns to the rocket. He lifts off and flies into space. In space, he gets out of the rocket one more time and waves to the alien. She waves back. Both are happy.
He travels on in his spaceship, and we see a view of stars and space again.
The end! Or is it?

Hope you enjoyed the story, and the video, a bit!

My 2022 Recap

Time to look back at 2022 a bit.
2022 was a year with a lot of changes, things happening, and output for me.
Music wise, my productions usually have a specific theme, and this time, it was two of them: new Slowcore productions, and at the same time a return to my Speedcore roots of the 90s.
But I more or less kicked off the year (quite late - in mid March!) with a much different release: my "Dreams Visited" on Omnicore Records. Doing this album was literally a long time dream for me. It's a re-imagining (or re-dreaming) of my original "Dreams" album from 2013; which was a (dream-focused) concept album, with me adding vocals or text to every tracks. Centered around themes that were (and are) very dear to me.
While this original album was very lo-fi, sparse, minimal, I tried to give this revisit a much bigger scope and aim in production.  https://doomcorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/dreams-revisited

Okay, so this was my first major release of 2022.

Originally in 2021, I had begun revisiting another trait of my music history; early Speedcore, Terror, Gabber and Experimental Hardcore. Which was the type of music I did when I started producing seriously in 1997, and that was featured on my first vinyl releases on labels like Widerstand, Blut or Black Monolith.
At first just playing around and doing a few tracks in this vein, I quickly get deep into it again and began producing Speedcore "for real" once more. Of course I didn't want to get stuck in the past with this; so I tried to fuse many new and future influences into these productions.

This led to a string of releases, the first one being "The Fear Takes Hold" on gutter cvnt, which featured 5 very fast, distorted and noisy Hardcore tracks. https://guttercvnt.bandcamp.com/album/the-fear-takes-hold

And after that came my probably "biggest" release of 2022, the "Nihilism" album on Speedcore Worldwide.
13 tracks, over an hour of music, with all kinds of fast (and faster) beats; some melancholic and melodic tracks, others just noise - or a bit of cheeky fun.
The release seemed to enjoy some popularity and I got some great feedback on this one. https://speedcoreworldwideaudionetlabel.bandcamp.com/album/nihilism

Another Speedcore release by me was the "Your Destiny EP" on Gabbaret Records - which drew heavy influences from early Gabber music. https://gabbaretrecords.bandcamp.com/album/gbbr037-low-entropy-your-destiny

And a second release on Speedcore Worldwide - "Ultra Speedcore Resistance". An anti-fascist EP which exchanged the Oldschool Beats and Rave stabs for sheer angry noise at high tempo. https://speedcoreworldwideaudionetlabel.bandcamp.com/album/ultra-speedcore-resistance

2022 also saw a return by me to the Breakcore sound, with my first new Breakcore album since decades - "Doomed Hamburg Breakcore" on Les Ombres Tortures. https://lesombrestorturesrecords.bandcamp.com/album/low-entropy-doomed-hamburg-breakcore-lotrd4-glitch01

On the Techno side, a did a collab with Esther Dune into which was put a lot of work and energy - "Syntax Error / The Advent Of Acid Remixed" on Spirit Of Progess. Which features some very heavy and surreal Techno, Acid and Hardcore. https://spiritofprogress.bandcamp.com/album/syntax-error-the-advent-of-acid-remixed

2022 was the year in which the Low Entropy project turned 25 years old! I "celebrated" this with a compilation release of tracks from every year of producing. https://lowentropy.bandcamp.com/album/25-years-of-low-entropy-1997-2022

Now lets get to Slowcore. I really got involved in the Slowcore sound in 2022 (already beginning in the second half of 2021, actually), and did a number of releases in that style (usually on Slowcore Records); ending the year with my first full-length Slowcore album, "Doors To The Pleasures" on SEUA Digital Records. It features a variety of dark, disturbing, but also enlightening Slowcore tracks in different styles. https://seuadigitalrecords.bandcamp.com/album/doors-to-the-pleasures

So this was my 2022; music wise, I enjoyed it a lot, and I hope you did, too!

The Hardcore Overdogs

New E-Zine: The Hardcore Overdogs

This E-zine was started for the following reason.
Lately, there have been many interesting and fascinating developements in the world of Hardcore and related genres. New styles and movements emerged, or older ones got a "new wind". There are many new producers who create fantastic stuff, or veterans who keep putting out gems.
But, most of that is complete ignored by or unknown to people; there are artists, who are complete masters of their art, that are constantly overlooked, etc.
People keep looking to the same few producers / DJs / labels and are not aware of most things beyond this.
Usually, these new artists are only known to a small group of people, small circles which are made up by people who often are producers of similar music themselves.

At the same time, people complain that "contemporary" Hardcore is boring compared to the good, old Hardcore of the past.
But that's not true. There is so much music around that is just as good, and often even better than the glorious Hardcore of the past.
It's just that these tracks and artists are virtually unknown to most people.

This E-Zine wants to change that. It aims to feature artist that make marvelous and groundbreaking stuff, but that are far away from the "mainstream spotlight".
To put those in the front spot that deserve it.
And to show that there have been many great releases and tracks in the world of Hardcore lately.
That a lot of good and bold Hardcore can be found even, or especially, in contemporary times. Which should not be overlooked.

But we will also feature artists and DJs that have a huge audience but whose output still sticks out from the mainstream.
After all, in the end, in times of the internet - being a "known" or "unknown" artist might be up to definition - some producer could be a legend to 1000s of people and still be totally unknown to the rest.
That's why we won't be strict or get into debates of "Underground Elitism".
We won't be too rigid with "stylistic" limitations, either. We will occasionally feature interesting music that might not be strictly considered "Hardcore", too. Especially if it's connected to the Hardcore scene in some way (side project, same label, etc.), but even when it's not.
And we want to showcase Hardcore releases and projects from the past that keep getting overlooked. In this realm, many treasures are still to be found, too.

The general idea is to feature music and artists that differs and stands out from the mainstream of Hardcore in one way or the other.

This is our mission statement.

Welcome to the Hardcore Overdogs!

Gestirnsmusik

Metalove with their Gestirnsmusik album on Slowcore Records!
Now, Slowcore Records is about low tempo electronic music. And so far, most of our releases were about slow, slower, or slowest Hardcore, Doomcore and Industrial stuff. But the focus here is different:
This time we got low tempo Techno, Acid, Trance, Electronic music. Yeah, there are some moments of distortion here, too, but that's not the main thing. If you ever wondered how Techno would sound if it was produced at reduced pace, half speed, or even slower, and if you ever thought the Electronic music at clubs was way too fast - stop here and take a rest!

But there is also a second dimension to this release. As the names and titles might imply, this is a heavily Krautrock, Berlin School, Ambient influenced release. A concept album of "Kosmische Musik", cosmic sounds, thoughts, images. Just that they are underlined by heavy Techno rhythms this time.

7 tracks, runtime of over 50 minutes, 30-95 BPM.
So, if all this sounds like something you could fancy - this might be the right release for you!
